March?? Already? Well, I'm not going to say I'm sad.....I've thought many a time about the purpose of February, and I just can't think of one. I mean, who wouldn't like to go from January to March? But, March in Colorado (as I have heard) is just like February BUT SNOWIER!!!!!, so forget about what I just said regarding the purpose of February. I'm really just ready to run outside everyday without my gloves and before 5pm.
I cannot believe what a slacker I am with regard to Feb postings; I swear, the month just crept up on me and before I knew it...it was gone. Oh, darn. But March is a much more exciting month! We are leaving for Destin, FL with the Curry's on the 12th (Spring Break, woo!). I complete my Clinical Fellowship on the 9th, which is an accomplishment in itself. No more hoops, until Continuing Education, of course. I cannot believe Mike and I have been in Colorado for 9 months! Before we know it it'll be a year, or longer...life just keeps on moving, doesn't it? Whether you're ready for it or not. I'm ready! What about you?
My bestest best friend got engaged recently!!!! I'm extremely dissapointed that I'm not there to go dress shopping, calm the drama, drink wine, and talk about men (and all those things people don't tell you about marriage). However, this means a trip to Funchester, Kentucky is in store for the end of July!!! I'm so very excited!! I think my parents are planning a trip to the Columbine State in June....bring on the visitors this summer! The more the merrier, seiously....if you want to have a vacation with free lodging and REALLY great hosts and tour guides, come and visit. You won't be dissapointed.
One more random thing, and I do mean RANDOM....so just prepare yourself.

Okay, so when you roll up to Ward, CO where Mike will be spending his entire summer you pass a very small town with a roud-about called Nederland. This town has a incredibly odd festival each year in March called Frozen Dead Guy Days. Here is a small description, although I suggest going to the link and reading all about this crazyness:
"Grandpa Bredo is soon to be 109 years old. For years, he’s
taken up residence in a Tuff Shed in the hills above Nederland,
Colorado, where he remains very, very, very cold. More
specifically, Grandpa is frozen in a state of suspended
animation, awaiting the big thaw. The one that will bring him
back to life. There is a good story behind this, one that stretches from
Norway to California to Colorado, involving cryonics,
deportation, psychics, celebrations, and a dedicated Ice Man. It’s a tale that has captured international attention and sparked a must-attend annual event called Frozen Dead Guy Days."
My point? We're totally going. Do you remember the post about the Fuzzy Little Hippie Girl? That band, The Great American Taxi is going to be there!! Hilarious. Does anyone find this as humerous as we do? Apparently though, it is quite the big deal since the city passed a law that says keeping frozed dead guys in a Tuff Shed in your backyard is illegal....huh oh. What's a small town like Nederland to do? I mean, they have coffin racing for goodness sakes. This is how we are going to spend our Sunday this coming weekend. I can't think of anything better, can you?
I worked this past Sunday in order for us to head to Vail on Friday to ski! No crazy snow in store so hopefully the trip up I 70 will not be that bad. Saturday we are going Snowshoeing with our small group, which I love, up in Estes Park and then Sunday is the Dead Guy Festival along with church. Pictures are a necessity on the next post which I should do on Monday night sometime because I know I have left ALL of you in such suspension regarding this Frozen Dead Guy Days Festival.
One more thing (I believe I've said that before), working out everyday for Lent is going really well. I'm understanding, in a very small way, what sacrifice and discipline are really about. I bought a Nike+ chip to put in my shoe and calculate milage on my iPod I run with. I've been doing around 3 miles everday, unless it's cold. Not to say that I don't run when it's cold because I ran in the snow for the first time this week! But the next few days are supposed to be in the upper 50s! Tues and Thrus I take a weight lifting class at Foothills (where Mike works) and I'm growing the guns! Okay, not really, but it's nice having someone to push you to work harder. I'm sure this blog is getting quite random and boring so, until Monday when I post pictures of our newest adventures, Love Wins! I love you all!
I definitely want to hear about this frozen dead guy thing, lol! I can't wait for that post! Your snowy skiing pics are awesome, & the video in the next post is even better. I wish I could join you in all that fun! And exercise -my butt needs to get back into shape! :) LOVE WINS!
ReplyDeleteI missed the Frozen Dead Guy Days this year, I think that the coffin races are the best.
