Roses, for the Run for the Roses, duh!

The table with the Derby plates & cups given to us from my mom and mom-in-law, Thanks!
Hosts that passed out after everyone left!
We also had Ale8s and made Mint Julips for those that desired. In fact, we made a mint/sugar syrup the night before to add to the Julips....still strong, but bearable for those not so in love with Bourbon. Didn't have time to make the Bread Pudding with Bourbon sauce, guess I'll just have to make that next week for us to enjoy, oh darn. We also had Mini Hot Browns that were a definite hit from the peanut gallery. Basically, I'm ready to plan next year's party!! I think I could get used to planning such an event...and really, to share my love of horses with others is rewarding as well.
I miss Kentucky home on a regular basis, though. I miss my farm, I miss the weather (it has snowed here several times in the last week), I miss my family. But that's one thing I have grown to accept about myself, I'm never satisified with what's given to me. I'm working on that, though. More like the Lord is working on that....there's no way I could change by myself.
I'm working on a Sunday (tomorrow) in order to take off Friday because my friend Missy is coming to visit. We have a pretty darn full weekend planned and I'm super excited to have her visit! Here's another praise - Mike starts his job on Monday! I've only been talking about this forever, I feel like. He'll be working in the Denver office for about 3 weeks. He's really excited and we are looking forward to see what kinds of opportunities/friendships that develop from this job.
We will sing one song for my old Kentucky home, for my old Kentucky home far away......Until next time dear friends, love always wins.
Everything looks wonderful. Glad you had a good party with good friends. That's the best combination!
ReplyDeleteLooks AWESOME, Lynsey! I have to say you look adorable in your derby hat, & the food looks amazing. I'm glad you could share a piece of your heart with everyone. Yay for new friends! & Yay for old friends too! :) Can't wait to see you in 4 days!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had fun. Jennifer and I always have a great time at derby parties. It's a great way to share a piece of home with our friends. Plus you get to drink juleps by the gallon. Mmmmm... minty.
ReplyDeleteThis year, our good friends Etienne and Katey Bourgeois got married on Derby Day. A derby wedding is the way to go.
