Have I really succumbed to this? Working a crossword puzzle while enjoying my wine slushy at the kitchen table on a Tuesday night? Of course I have! Not to mention, I've solved several clues on Jeopardy! tonight and I could have totally won that $30,000 on Wheel of Fortune. Heck yes!
Don't get me wrong, I worked a full day then had a syringe plugged into my gums so the dentist could take his drill and I could watch my good tooth get suctioned up by the suctioner (hummm?). Sounds delightful! How we all LOVE the trip to our dentist. But what I'm really waiting on is our inspection resolution report from the seller to see if they agreed to the changes we want them to make. I.E fix the 3 gas leaks, put in a radon mitigation system, fix the aluminum wiring in the house, etc. Important things that are going to keep our house and our family safe! I could never be a realtor, I mean all this hurry up and wait is driving me absolutely insane! Hurry and make a decision and then wait for the seller to make their decision. My heart isn't set on this home, but it will definitely be a disappointment if we don't get the home.
Just getting back into the swing of things and writing down my thoughts for the evening. To be con't.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
I don't know even where to start. There were so many days that I craved an hour at this computer to pour my thoughts into words - but I wriggled myself around finding something else to do. Shame. There are always things you can distract yourself with to bite your time from completing that blog about the fact that your husband lost his job. Or about how he found a job (kind of). And I guess that's what this blog has turned into. The life of a Colorado Curry - moving through the everyday and just trying not to get stuck in the miry clay. Knowing, most importantly, that keeping the faith is vital and the Lord blesses, encourages, and honors those who are faithful, even through the crappy times.
So as I eluded to in the previous paragraph - Colorado Youth Program shut its doors. It was not as financially sound as we thought, so when he got the phone call that it was over...well. Let's not go back there. I literally started about 10 blogs, but could never see them to fruition because it was just too hard. When your husband is FINALLY happy and he FINALLY feels desired, prepared, and purposeful - what a relief! Then to go through all that pain again, is like putting rubbing alcohol on an open wound. I'm acting like this happened to me, but it might of well have been me. When you are involved in the daily life of your spouse, it is only human to feel sympathetic and share whatever emotions the other is feeling. I actually believe it was the day after my last blog that he got the phone call his jobs was toast. I remember thinking to myself, "desiring a house at this moment seems so insignificant". It was at this point I began avoiding my blog. The last thing I needed was for people to feel sorry for us or for the whole world to know that my husband lost his job. After only 8 months, and about 8 interviews. Yikes! I'm still a bit bitter, aren't I?

Colorado Youth Program was acquired by another non-profit based in Denver called Big City Mountaineers. http://www.bigcitymountaineers.org/ (check it out). Mike is currently working Part Time on the after school program and finds out next weekend if they want to run the summer camping program which would bump him up to full time and be able to con't his job as the Camp Director. Whew. Minor stress about the decision being made by BCM board of directors - I just want to give them a little piece of my mind and state for the record they are dealing with the LIFE of an employee who has worked VERY HARD to get a sustainable job for his FAMILY. Cut this guy a break and give him a full time job that is stable and well paid. Easier said than done in this economy, but it sounds good on paper, doesn't it?
That's where I'm stopping for tonight. I have yet to get to the most exciting news of all - we're in the process of buying a HOUSE. Mi Casa! Other fun things that have also occurred between August and November that I will indulge upon, if of course, you want to read it. I'm putting it on paper (internet land). No more excuses. See you sooner than later! Love Wins!

Do I have to rock the suburbs?
Ben Folds might have something going for him in the song, "Rockin' the Suburbs". It is quite a good possibility that the Colorado Curry's may live in the suburbs. Wait, we WILL live in the suburbs. Mike and I have entertained the thought of moving into the mountains, but a 30 min commute down the mountain with the risk of wildfires (which we've seen enough of), crazy snow and wild animals its risks outweigh its benefits. Although I've seen some pretty kick-ass houses that are within our price range that I'd love to have. Life will just have to grant us with a little extra cash to buy a mountain home.
So the 'burbs it is. Oh boy.
And with that reality comes another kick in the gut - neighbors. I grew up with my grandparents as my neighbors. They didn't mind me barging in their door with all our dogs and all my glory. My sister now has my parents as her neighbors and certainly they don't mind having their grandchildren barge in with their dogs. We are family. The Skaggs family commune - a dream that may come to fruition one day. But until then my little naive self will have to live life with neighbors. I don't mind the neighborhood that I'm in right now- but the houses are too close for comfort and I can see about 30 windows from one of my windows. Sitting in church last week, Pastor Brian starting discussing ministry as local as your neighbors. Your mission does not have to be an overseas trip - although certainly I've been there and done that and if that is your calling then do it! But for those of us who feel called to community (Christians)- where better to find it then in your neighbors. The Upper Room daily devotional came to me the other day and was on this exact topic....so I've started praying specifically for our neighborhood. I'm talking a friendly, "hello" when we walk our dogs by houses. Then a "how are you" after a couple weeks. Then a cookie platter or 2. Then asking true questions, "No really, how ARE you?" and hopefully building rapport. All the time praying that Jesus shines though us - I mean if the neighborhood is like ours now, we have solicitors all the time. The LDS comes regularly, roofing, dog poop pick up, and my favorite the Dakota Ridge High School football team (they have a pretty rad discount card that I've bought twice). The last thing people need are door knockers asking for more stuff.
What do you think? Are you in community within your neighborhood? What are you doing to connect with your neighbors and do you have any advice for those of us who will be moving into the suburban life???

Our weeks are already filled up with things to do. i.e. Dinner with our Refugee family (I'll explain more of that in the next blog), dinner with Kaitlyn - the new Speech Therapist that works my job at my old facility, Yonder Mountain String Band concert at Red Rocks with some serious tail gaiting at our house with a couple staff of Mike's, and then a concert at Mishawaka Amphitheater up in Ft. Collins to see Keller Williams!

Have you ever.....
....witnessed someone living the mundane life, but so in tune with their mission? The majority of life is ordinary. Think about it.
There are only a few "life altering" events that happen in a lifetime (i.e. marriage, kids, death) and therefore, the rest of life is sadly mundane. Or is it? As a Christ-follower do we consider the everyday life.....boring? Certainly not. Everyday life is what is MOST important in our relationship with Christ. He lives within us while we walk the dogs, clean the house, vacuum the carpet, etc. His desire is to weave His characteristics into our everyday - we are to live as Christ. Humans cannot change their behavior on our own fruition (i.e. I think I'll serve more this month), our behavior changes as we grow in relation to God. Right? What a realization...I don't have to "try" to serve, I serve because I believe in Christ and that He was the ultimate servant.
I say this because life is very mundane right now. I was in desperate need for a local coffee shop to sort out thoughts this Sunday afternoon and I found this....... In-Tea . Really? An entire shop dedicated to tea? Whole leaf teas from all over the world, in fact! Exceptional service and some good pastries (a home-made cinnamon roll with custard in the middle). If this place was any closer to my house, I'd be here nightly tasting every single tea. Regardless, I wish there were some exciting news in the Curry home, but it is quite boring.
I have been pining after homes, decorations, and the store Athropologie. It is absolutely ridiculously overpriced, but the design is pristine. I'm sure there are other designers and architecture out there that as I begin a search for decorating, I'll covet the same as Anthropologie. P.S. They have amazing clothes, too. Rooms like this one - a hot, Bohemian mess, but I love it!
Like I said - they have elegant/classy clothes like this top (and it's on sale!)
Cute! Don't you think? And speaking of cute - here's a little something from a while back that makes me smile every single time. She's prancing around now ..... it's eatin' time. She'll just have to wait, though. I need to get to church.

The Dog Days of Summer.
So, I'm in love. No, for real.
Sorry Mikey - but summer has stolen my heart. Swept me up in its warm, long nights, smothered me in late aftenoon thunderstorms, growth of orchids and other plants (I've recently gathered a love for Black Dahlias) have overwhelmed my living room, and my dogs have discovered the true meaning of the "dog days of summer". Red Rocks rolls on almost every night with its concerts and movies on the rocks. I take my residents outside to enjoy fresh air and the ability to see at 9pm at night is fantastic.
We most recently returned from Chincoteague Island with the Skaggs family and enjoyed a week of fishing, sunning, and horsing around. This island is known for its Pony Swim/Pony Pinning every year. Knowing us horsey Skaggs girls, we just had to see where this takes place. It was one of the most interesting and historic places I have ever visited. We had to venture out of Sanibel, but totally worth it!
I've done something crazy, again. I'm telling you - this summer weather makes me be over zealous and disciplined. 2 things, really.
1. AdvoCare - https://www.advocare.com/110110431/Products/ This is the link to my sister-in-law's page, but you get the idea. Not that I want to lose weight, but this program is basically sweeping the country and I had to see what it was about. I'm starting the 24 day challenge in 2 days so updates are in order.
2. The Moab 1/2 Marathon - http://www.moabhalfmarathon.org/otherhalf/index.cfm So, I've done a 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles) every 2 years and I thought that I would get through this year without doing one. But, this opportunity came up and Mike and I have pined after Moab since we moved 5.5 hrs away from its beauty. So, not only does this make me start running seriously again, but it also gives us an excuse to go to Moab for the weekend with the pups. This picture came from the website of "The Other Half" Marathon. October 16th is D-Day! I really am excited. It'll be almost 2 years at the time of the race that I've completed a 1/2 marathon! yay!
I am so thankful for my life here in Colorado. We are still in the process of looking for houses in Golden....finally found a realtor and going through a mortgage broker for our loan. Timeline looks like the end of September to close on the house/ move in. I'm looking at houses everyday and driving by them mostly to see what neighborhoods are good/bad. So Fun!
Caught up till the present. The rest of July is pretty calm, August holds some exciting things..... hold on!
